Fees

***Important changes 1st November 2025

Your care will always come first, we continue to be a mixed billing clinic

At Mount Barker & Balhannah Medical Clinics, we’re committed to providing the highest standard of care for you and your family.
Recent Medicare incentive changes unfortunately still don’t cover the true cost of delivering that care — including the time, expertise, and quality services our patients deserve.

To continue offering longer appointments, experienced doctors, and a fully supported clinical team, we’ll be introducing an updated fee structure from 1 November 2025.

We know any change to fees can raise questions, and we’re here to help.
Please feel free to speak with our friendly reception team if you’d like to understand how this affects you — we’ll happily guide you through the details.

Thank you for your understanding and for trusting us with your care.

Our standard gap is $60.00, with a reduced gap of $40 for Health Care card holders.

Valid Pensioner Concession Card, Children under 10 and GP Chronic Condition Management Plans (GPCCMP) will continue to be bulk-billed.

Standard consult fee is $103.90, with a gap of $60.00 and Medicare rebate of $43.90

Longer consult  over 20 mins fee is $164.90 - $184.90, with a gap of $80.00 - $100.00 and Medicare rebate of $84.90

We require the full payment for your consultation at the time of the appointment. We use the Medicare Easy Claim system, which allows you to pay your account and receive your Medicare rebate straight back into your bank account.

We operate on slender margins and face increasing costs and demand from our community.

We regret any  inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Mount Barker and Balhannah Medical Clinics are a mixed billing practice. All bulk-billing is at doctor’s discretion, and one doctor bulk billing does not guarantee that another doctor will.

GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP) will continue to be bulk-billed.

Phone consults incur standard billing fees. When booking phone appointments via HotDoc, you will be prompted to provide your credit card details or booking by the admin team you will be sent a SMS to provide your credit card details. These details are securely stored within the HotDoc system and no payment will be allocated to your card until completion of your appointment with the doctor. If these details are not entered then you appointment cannot proceed.

We have always prided ourselves on providing a high level of care for all patients. Over the past 10 years, there has been a significant increase in the cost of running a quality general practice. During this time, the Federal Government has only provided very small increases to the Medicare rebate. This has meant that the Medicare rebate is now inadequate and no longer covers the full cost of a GP consultation.
